Archiving and Retention Policy

The editorial office and editorial board of the Eastern Ukrainian Medical Journal adhere to the Open Access policy and strive to provide authors and readers with constant free access to the electronic version of the publication. All articles are posted on the journal's website permanently and free of charge. This is consistent with the BOAI definition of open access.

Articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, which allows reading, downloading, copying, distributing, printing, searching, or referencing to the full texts of the articles and using them for any other lawful purpose, provided that the original publication is cited. This journal's licensing policy is compatible with the vast majority of open access and archiving policies.

The Eastern Ukrainian Medical Journal provides long-term digital storage, free access to all published materials, and protection against data loss, adhering to the principles of open access and academic integrity of scientific publishing, using the following tools:

  • Publisher's Website

Real-time access to journal issues, metadata, and full-text articles for all journal publications is provided through the Archive section on the journal's official website. The archive contains all issues and individual articles of the journal, with no storage period limitations.

  • Repository

Real-time access to metadata and full-text articles is provided through the Sumy State University electronic institutional repository (eSSUIR). The archive contains all journal articles without any storage period limitation.

  • Archive

Real-time access to journal issues and full-text articles through the journal's electronic archive at the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine.

Technical Means

All journal materials are archived in stable electronic formats, ensuring their accessibility, reproducibility, and correct citation in the future: metadata and full texts of publications can be indexed in national and international information and scientometric systems. The journal backs up its issues and monitors technological aspects to prevent possible format conversions or outdated software.

The website of the Eastern Ukrainian Medical Journal is hosted on the Open Journal Systems platform, which supports the PKP system, designed for the digital storage of scientific journal archives.

The PKP PN network is integrated with the well-known scientific information storage service, LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), which facilitates decentralized, distributed storage, continuous access, and preservation of the original version of the content. If content is found to be damaged or lost, other archives are used to restore it.

Availability Guarantees

The Eastern Ukrainian Medical Journal uses stable file formats, including PDF, to ensure the readability of scientific content; assigns a DOI to each article, which contributes to its stable identification and search; and adheres to OpenAIRE standards to ensure metadata compatibility, integration with appropriate infrastructure, and long-term storage.
